The Lord Whisky Sanctuary Fund cares for horses, pigs, cats, dogs and other small animals and looks for responsible, loving homes. Any animal that cannot be rehomed is given permanent sanctuary. No animal is ever destroyed. Lord Whisky also runs veterinary clinics for people on low income and relies entirely on legacies and donations to continue our valuable work. The charity was named after a little Jack Russell who lived with Margaret and her family and was put to sleep at the grand old age of 22 years. Lord Whisky was a bit of a character and needed careful understanding and this led us to realise that a sanctuary was needed that could provide the time and expertise to cope with animals like Lord Whisky and hopefully turn them around for re-homing.
Animals In Distress SanctuaryFounded in 1967, we at Animals in Distress try to alleviate the suffering of sick and injured animals. This is our main goal! We achieve this by using a number of methods such as: a 24-hour rescue service, veterinary treatment, neutering and a micro-chipping scheme. We also aim to educate the public through advice programmes and work experience placements. Our charity aims to help strays, abandoned animals, cruelty cases and road traffic accidents and with our new Retirement Home we are able to offer long term care to older animals. We take in any animal from cats, dogs, rabbits, birds & horses to pigs, sheep, goats & reptiles. We never turn anyone away – every creature deserves to be treated with respect and be loved.
