Animals In Distress Sanctuary Founded in 1967, we at Animals in Distress try to alleviate the suffering of sick and injured animals. This is our main goal! We achieve this by using a number of methods such as: a 24-hour rescue service, veterinary treatment, neutering and a micro-chipping scheme. We also aim to educate the public through advice programmes and work experience placements. Our charity aims to help strays, abandoned animals, cruelty cases and road traffic accidents and with our new Retirement Home we are able to offer long term care to older animals. We take in any animal from cats, dogs, rabbits, birds & horses to pigs, sheep, goats & reptiles. We never turn anyone away – every creature deserves to be treated with respect and be loved. But we cannot survive without your help – IT ALL COSTS! We rely heavily on the generosity of the public through donations, helpers and fundraisers. We area a UK based registered charity, home to over 250 unwanted, abandoned or neglected exotic animals and rescued British wildlife.The Exotic Pet Refuge can only survive from help from the public – we receive no government funding, and need over GBP65,000 a year to survive as we are now! We are also always looking to expand so that we can care for more and more animals.If you feel that you would like to help the Refuge, then there are many ways in which you can do so:- Making a donation of money, food or building materials- Holding a fund raising event or a birthday party at the Refuge- Having an animal or photographic experience at the Refuge- Working for the Refuge as a volunteer- Coming to our Open DaysOur next open day is on 1st April 2018.All remaining open days:– 1st April 2018– 20th May 2018– 24th June 2018– 15th July 2018– 16th September 2018– 14th October 2018Open days run from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
