Woodend Self Catering Cottages

We at Woodend have a variety of quaint self catering cottages available for those looking to escape to a remote and peaceful setting within the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Within the Woodend Farm estate, we have 4 cottages available – ‘The Bothy’, ‘The Schoolhouse’, ‘The Buttery’ and ‘The Cottage’, and they are all pet friendly, so you can bring your dogs and cats along with you for an adventure of a lifetime!

Our Self Catering Holiday Cottages provides a comfortable and cosy accommodation for two or more people plus pets within a quiet relaxing environment. Each cottage has a bedroom, living space, kitchen and bathroom for you to roam around in, with each having all the much needed amenities to keep you going throughout your stay.

Even though we are not part of the farm itself, you will be surrounded by numerous sheep, cows, chickens, visiting ducks, Canada geese, a heron and many other birds including: pied wagtails and swallows, which is perfect for all those wildlife lovers and bird watchers. Also, if your interests involve enjoying nature walking, wild swimming, fishing, cycling, climbing, and sightseeing (by car) or if you just want to close the gate behind you and not return to civilisation for a while, this is the perfect place for you!

We are situated just 3 miles away from both the Eskdale Valley and the Duddon Valley and conveniently situated for Ulpha, Seathwaite, Broughton-in-Furness and Boot for those who wish to explore what the local area has to offer.

The estate is based quite high up on the Birker Fell (950′) which can be approached from the fell along a single track road through a gate. We can’t rate the picturesque views that surround us any higher! From your cottage of choice, you will be greeted by fantastic views that span across the fell towards Scafell Pike which is Englands’s highest mountain Bow Fell and Crinkle Craggs. You can make a ten minute walk to one of the smaller of the lakes in the National Park – Devoke Water, which never the less is nearly a mile long! Also, If you are willing to make the journey, you could walk to the top of Devoke Seat which would only take around twenty minutes to do. On a clear day, at the top, you could experience the breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view of Devoke Water, the Langdales, the coast and the Isle of Man.
