Animals In Distress Sanctuary
Founded in 1967, we at Animals in Distress try to alleviate the suffering of sick and injured animals. This is our main goal! We achieve this by using a number of methods such as: a 24-hour rescue service, veterinary treatment, neutering and a micro-chipping scheme. We also aim to educate the public through advice programmes and work experience placements.

Our charity aims to help strays, abandoned animals, cruelty cases and road traffic accidents and with our new Retirement Home we are able to offer long term care to older animals. We take in any animal from cats, dogs, rabbits, birds & horses to pigs, sheep, goats & reptiles. We never turn anyone away – every creature deserves to be treated with respect and be loved.

But we cannot survive without your help – IT ALL COSTS!

We rely heavily on the generosity of the public through donations, helpers and fundraisers. Our services cost, so any help would be gratefully recieved. Take our 24hr emergency work – if an animal is injured in some way, the treatment required can sometimes create a hefty bill at the end, for example: a broken leg can cost over GBP250 and an x-ray around GBP60.

Our two sanctuaries have rising vet’s fees, a need for a constant supply of food, disinfectants, and then theres the mortgage, insurance and transport costs to consider – Our resources are stretched to the limit every day! We need your support to enable our important work continues.

Though we are an animal charity, we are also here to help pet owners. If you are living alone and are sadly taken ill then we can help by arranging care for your pet while you get better. We also help if you are sent to prison or made homeless. Animals don’t make problems, people do – They don’t ask to be taken in. So let us help! We, as people, need to take responsibility to care of them. A well cared for pet, with food warmth, love and proper veterinary treatment will give them in return the best reward you can get – love, loyalty, companionship and true friendship. Caring for them is a small price to pay.

Please do not hesitate to get in contact with us for further information on any of our services or you can simply come down and see first hand what we can do for you – we would love to meet you! Alternatively you can visit our social media page to hear about our latest arrivals, news and deals:
