Bachwen Farm & Cottages
We at Bachwen Farm & Cottages are based on a tranquil and peaceful site overlooking Caernarfon Bay in North Wales. We lie on the picturesque Llyn Peninsular, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. We have a number of cottages available as well as some luxury pods for couples, individuals, families and dogs to come and stay in. With fantastic coastal walks and a private beach, glade and paddocks to explore, you and your four-legged friend will have the time of your life away from all the stresses of work and home.
Our cottages are built on the remains of an 7th century working farm that served the St Beuno Monastery back in the day. The 9 stone cottages we have available offer outstanding panoramic views of the paddocks and of Caernarfon Bay, Anglesey, Holy Island and the imposing Three Rivals mountain range. The backdrop to our site is the glorious mountains of Snowdonia which overlooks some breathtaking sunsets over Caernarfon Bay.
The cottages themselves have a lot of history! As we have said, it was originally run by monks as a farm back in 630AD. The farm occupied nearly 500 acres of prime pastureland along the coast, which included a bakery, a granary, pig sties and cattle sheds. The millhouse stream which the farm was home to still flows through the glade today. We even have some of the original features still, such as the bell tower, the ornamental carvings and a bronze plate of the Last Supper on The Chapel Cottage. Our cottages today are built on the remains of the monastery farm and have been converted into 9 individual holiday cottages. They maintain the tradition and charm of the original buildings whilst including contemporary interiors and modern amenities so you are comfortable in your stay.
Three of our cottages cater for just 2 people whilst the other six can cater from 2-4 people up to 8 people, so no matter what size party you have, we are more than sure we can accommodate you! All cottages are tastfully decorated with all the relevant and modern facilities such as kitchen amenities and colour TVs & DVD players. The kitchens are fully-fitted with an oven, hob, a microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine, and the cottages come with their own private garden. Just picture it, you’re standing in you cosy cottage looking out on your dog playing in the garden and the stunning views of the Bay and beyond. We really are the perfect getaway!
We also have two glamping pods available to hire too, which are called Dandelion and Burdock. They are set on our estate bookend to the glade, and each looks out across Caernarfon bay. They are so quaint and cosy! People have said they couldn’t get enough of the surrounding stunning natural beauty and the magical sunsets. They are perfect for those looking to explore the area from, and those that simply come to while away those lazy days. We provide: a double camp bed, a mini fridge, a two ringed electric stove, and a Wood burner. You will have to bring: all bedding, towels and tea towels, cooking equipment, and eating equipment.
