Brynygwin Country House & Cottages

Located in the beautiful Gwynedd in Wales, we at Brynygwin Country House & Cottages are the perfect pet friendly accommodation for families, couples, individuals, dog & pet owners to come and relax on a break away from all the stresses of life. You can enjoy the picturesque surroundings whilst staying in either our grand country house or in one of our quaint pet friendly luxury cottages. They are all reasonably priced and suit most budgets.

We really can’t rate our location enough! Tucked away within the Snowdonia National Park, the estate is completely surrounded by a rural setting – with 5 acres of mature informal garden full of colourful shrubs and fine trees, and lush green fields 15 acres of woodland, and also a river for keen fishers to try their luck just across the little road. We are just nestling way down beneath the mass of Cadair Idris (the 8-mile-long, 9-peak-high mountain range flanking Snowdonia’s scenic Mawddach estuary), and we stand just one mile west of the market town of Dolgellau and east of the estuary-head village of Penmaenpool, which are both accessible by road or trail.

The site is perfect for wildlife lovers as they can enjoy watching birds, bats, badgers, and the wild flowers that surround us. Fishermen are more than welcome to use our private riverbank which is around about 100 metres long and are free to use all the Dolgellau Angling Association waters too. Walkers can appreciate this ideal location too! You & your dog can set off in any direction with one of the many guide sheets which can provide for you. Mountain-bikers, narrow-gauge railway riders and castle connoisseurs can also take advantage of our hospitality as they can find themselves ringed round with choice for their chosen pursuits.

The country house is divided vertically into two flats for families to come and stay in. They are divided in a way that nobody gets to be above or below anybody else like the word ‘flats’ might suggest which is great to keep that peaceful and quiet atmosphere the estate is known for. The flats have their own first-floor landing with their separate entrances facing each other. Their spacious rooms have some very interesting features such as the rounded windows and variously-shaped ceilings giving them a huge amount of character. The ground floor of the country house comprises of a laundry room, store rooms and passageways where bikes and outdoor gear can be stored securely. Each of the rooms are very spacious with each flat having its own bedrooms, kitchen, living space and bathroom. They have a home from home feel and each flat is self-catered.

We also have 2 pet friendly cottages available too – ‘The Mews’ & ‘Ty Clyd’, which is separated from the main country house by just a narrow pathway. So even though they are separated, they feel together. The Mews Cottage is a comfortable one-bedroomed, ground-floor only cottage, and is one of three conversions from the outbuildings of the 19th century family house. It has a nice living room and kitchen for your use and it has the overall space to sleep 3 people (with the added use of the pull-out bed in the living-room). Ty Clyd is our three-bedroomed cottage which was once upon a time the stables, hay-loft and tack room for the family country house. It can hold up to 5 or 6 people. Ty Clyd is Welsh for Cosy House and it really does live up to its name! The cottages are ideal for dog-owners and bird-lovers as they overlook the garden.

There is also the added bonus of our ‘Loft Bedroom’ for those that need that extra space for more guests. It is furnished as a bedroom with two adjacent 3′ divan beds. However we must say it is not en suite, but, if used with either of the cottages whose gardens it overlooks, is literally only just a few yards away from their facilities which can be reached without going through someone else’s room.
