Destitute Animal Shelter
We at the Destitute Animal Shelter are a rescue charity dedicated to caring for lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats of the Bolton area. We have a non-destruction policy and are committed to reduce the unwanted cat and dog problem in this area by neutering every animal that we re-home. Local charity (No. 222935)
We have a dedicated staff and are dependent on the efforts of our volunteers, fund-raisers and their gifts, donations and legacies. We deal with over 2000 animals per year, reuniting them with their owners or finding them new homes. We are always looking for support to continue this invaluable service so please support us with your contributions, your time, or in whatever way you can.
A really good way to help is by being a ‘FRIEND OF THE SHELTER’. The annual subscription is GBP15.00 which can be paid by direct debit and can, if you wish, be covenanted. A Deed of Covenant allows us to receive an additional GBP3.45 from the Inland Revenue. This is a magic trick many people would like to achieve, turning GBP15.00 into GBP18.45. Your GBP15.00 contribution will help us to help one of the many abandoned animals who arrive at Northolt Drive often in a pitiable state, frightened, alone and in need of care and shelter.
Our website gives more information if you wish to adopt an animal. You would be required to complete a form and we would then arrange a home visit to gauge suitability. Once agreed you would need to wait for 7 days for the dog to have all its vaccinations, neutering. Again with cats we would generally ask questions to ascertain the suitability of the animal to the new home environment.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with us for further information on any of our services – we would love to hear from you! Or you can visit our social media pages to hear about our latest projects, news and deals.
