Destitute Animal Shelter
Destitute Animal Shelter is a dedicated rescue charity based in Bolton, committed to the care, rescue, and rehabilitation of lost, abandoned, and surrendered cats and dogs. We operate a strict non-destruction policy, ensuring every healthy and treatable animal has the chance to
find a new beginning.
Every animal we rehome is neutered, supporting our mission to reduce the number of unwanted pets in the local area. As a registered charity (No. 222935), we work tirelessly to give every animal the second chance they deserve.
Each year, we care for over 500 animals, reuniting them with their families or helping them find loving new homes. This vital work is only possible thanks to our incredible team of staff and volunteers, and the generous support of donors, legacies, and local businesses.
We now also have a charity shop, located at:
210 Chorley Old Road, Bolton, BL1 3BG
All proceeds go directly towards our veterinary bills, animal care, and keeping the shelter running. Every purchase helps save lives.
We are always seeking more support to help us continue our work and expand our reach. You can help by:
- Sponsoring a kennel or cat pen
- Becoming a corporate partner
- Attending or hosting fundraising events
- Donating supplies or funds
- Leaving a gift in your will
- Volunteering your time or skills
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference to the lives of the animals in our care.
You can view our animals currently available for adoption and learn more about how to get involved by visiting our website or following us on Facebook. We regularly share updates, heartwarming rescue stories, and the latest news from the shelter.
